AI Is Still Part of Everyday Work Only in a Narrow Bubble

Looking around among our acquaintances, it is easy to think that artificial intelligence (AI) is already everywhere. Many people really do use AI tools every day, whether at work or in business processes.

But if we look at the world as a whole, AI is still at a very early stage.

How many people use AI today?

Of the world’s roughly 8.1 billion people:

  • About 84% have never used AI
  • About 16% have tried some kind of chatbot
  • About 0.3% pay for an AI tool
  • About 0.04% use it regularly for coding

This means that everyday use of AI is mostly typical of a narrow circle: startups, the tech sector, marketing and developers.

What is the biggest barrier to AI growth?

In most organizations, the bottleneck is not the technology itself but people and organizations: how and what they use AI for. In many places AI seems complicated, and it is not always certain that using it pays off.

Today the biggest barrier is the low level of AI literacy. The more people understand how to apply AI effectively in their work, the faster growth and digitalization will be.

How do you use AI in your work?

If you want to keep up with artificial intelligence tools, it is worth starting to try different AI solutions in your everyday workflows.
